I couldn’t remember how long it was since I had visited our local show so, I had to go to the The Cairns Show this year. It was the last day for it and I got this wild urge to capture some times-lapses of sideshow alley. It was pretty hectic in those alleys but I stood right in the middle of the mayhem with people kicking my tripod and knocking me and my backpack around (it wasn’t that bad, but ultimately you don’t want to be anywhere near moving things when you’re doing time-exposures) and I still managed to snap a few pics worth editing. Overall it was a lovely experience. This year, I also was asked to be a judge for the Cairns Show Photographic exhibition which was a great experience! I got to work with fellow local Photographers and as a thank you I was gifted a show pass. Thank you Richard Foord and The Cairns Show. I had a ball! I was up bright and early this morning photographing and supporting this enthusiastic group of green thumbs! A group of 50 volunteering Treeforce Cairns members planted 1108 this morning from 7:30 – 10am of the intended 5000 trees which will be planted from May 26 – July 7th 2019 at Freshwater Creek. This is Treeforce’s contribution to the Cairns Regional Council’s Redlynch Sports and Recreation Master Plan (RMP). An excited audience sat with baited breath awaiting the awards issued to Best Film and People’s Choice awards among others. The 3hr event did not disappoint with amazing CGI productions, documentaries, short narratives, comedies, dramas, music videos and more. An eclectic array of short films for all pallets were on display from the 47 submissions in this year’s Understory Film Festival (Facebook page), which was held on Oct 13th 2018 at the Tanks Art Centre. in the end . After a solid week of rain, the clouds peeled away to reveal a full moon. Thankfully, it was a glorious evening for the sold out Waifs concert. The Waifs smashed out old favourites and also new hits on April 9th, 2017 at Munro Martin Parklands. Cairns’ newest venue. The result, a dancing crowd was drawn to the front of the stage. Children played in the gardens and moonlit picnics could be seen across the greens. To sum it up, it was a beautiful evening and concert enjoyed by all. See gallery pics here: The Waifs
